In 2015 the winter dung beetle (Bubas bison) was released on the farm; they should take 18 kilograms/day/cattle of manure below the surface to fertilise the soil naturally. Eventually Karri Heights plans to engage dung beetles all year round to increase fertility and unlock soil nutrients in the farm's rich karri loam soil.
